I am a PhD student at Brunel University, and my research interests are psychoanalytic theory and video games. I also work full-time, so as I'm sure you can imagine, I don't have a great deal of spare time!

A few words about the name of the site: I chose the phrase "perverse idol" because it has associations with going against imposed expectations. I would like to believe that I live my life in a way that I can look back on and be proud of, without necessarily following others' expectations of how to behave or where my life should be taking me.
Finally, I like to greet each day with a smile and whether it's the same old thing or a new experience, I'll always take something worthwhile from it. After all, what is life if not for living?
